A wheel detachment from a HGV has crushed a vehicle on the M6 motorway in Lancashire.
The loose wheel crossed the central reservation, smashed through the windscreen of an oncoming Peugeot missing the drivers head by inches, and crushed a child seat in the rear of the car. Thankfully a child was not in the vehicle at the time and the driver escaped with minor injuries.
Lancashire Road Police tweeted that “The driver of this car is the luckiest person in the world right now.”
The driver of this car is the luckiest person in the world right now. This tyre detached from an HGV on the M6 at jct28, crossed the central barrier & struck an oncoming vehicle. How they got it to the shoulder and got out is beyond us. Thankfully minor injuries. #T1TacOps pic.twitter.com/Z6chvf7ubD

Wheel detachment from vehicles can cause serious injury or death and is a major concern in the commercial vehicle industry.
Our Disc-Lock Safety Wheel Nut is specifically designed to prevent wheel loss from commercial vehicles. Widely recognised as an essential road safety device, it is considered to be far superior to standard two-piece wheel nuts.
Our new Disc-Lock Cab Kit is an easy-to-use torque tool that can be stored in the vehicle’s cab and be used by the driver to guarantee all wheel nuts have the correct torque setting.
